The ultimate comfort food, served classically in a rich, creamy sauce with a side of lingonberry jam.
Buona Vita Swedish Beef Meatballs, baked at 350° for 20 minutes or until heated through
Butter
Flour
Beef stock
Sour cream (use full-fat sour cream or the sauce may curdle)
Salt and pepper to taste
Lingonberry, red currant, raspberry or cranberry jelly, less or more to taste (optional)
Make the sauce by starting with a roux. Melt 3 tbsp of butter in a medium to large sauce pan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
Slowly add 3 tbsp of flour and stir in until smooth.
Start with adding 1 cup of beef stock and stirring slowly into the roux until smooth. Add additional cup of beef stock and continue stirring.
Remove pan from the heat and stir in sour cream. Add salt and pepper to taste and stir again.
Remove meatballs from the oven once thoroughly heated and add directly to the sauce pan. Stir and cook over low heat.
Place six meatballs on a small appetizer dish with sauce, add jam on the side for dipping.
